Apologies

Alrighty,
Sorry for the lack of activity on my part the last week or so. Turns out I needed surgery on my ankle when most everyone, including me, thought it was just a sprain. Next thing I know, I'm in a German Hospital with a plate and six screws in my leg.
Looking forward to getting back into the simm. I've got a couple JP's that look like they are wrapping up and looking forward to getting some new stuff rolling.
Cheers,
Tim (aka CDR Michael Bauer)

Not sure what happened to my account, but nevertheless I've requested and been given a new one. Didn't think you could get rid of me that quickly, did ya? :P
Thanks again to our great Captain for this wonderful opportunity! And feel free to JP with me as well.

Just want to clarify what G1 & G2 are. :-)
They are references to two generations of Galaxy Class vessels, the Galaxy & Galaxy(II). Essentially the Galaxy(II) is an improved version of the Galaxy that takes into account lessons learned since the Enterprise-D was launched up to the end of the Dominion war.
The Galaxy(II) ships received upgrades to most major systems which give her an increased combat capability the earlier vessels lacked. Propulsion was upgraded giving her increased speed & stamina at warp. New torpedo launchers allow the Quantum Torpedoes to be carried. Phaser upgrades included extra strips to correct a "gunnery blind spot" aft of the vessel. EPS relays were upgraded allowing for longer sustained firing as well as a new "multi-fire" mode on the Saucer arrays which allow those two arrays to fire multiple beams, allowing her to engage multiple targets or to simultaneously target multiple points on a single target. Computer & Sensor systems were upgraded to improve her targeting systems. Shield systems were updated to handle the latest in Dominion, Breen & Borg threats.
Also, while a lot of these upgrades improved her combat capabilities, they also improve her diplomatic & research capabilities as well.
So what does this mean for us? Despite the 'upgrade', there aren't any real changes to our specs. The Andromeda is still the same ship we know and love.
